The Freo X Ultra, a highly rated and extremely functional Gen 4 robotic vacuum and mop is a well-built machine. The $1400 list price may be hard to swallow but it is often offered for sale to make it more affordable. The unit looks fantastic and the base station occupies only a tiny space in a corner of the room.
The design of this robot is a solution to some of the issues we've experienced with other robotic mop and vacuum units, including brushes that get tangled up in hair, and the vacuum brush not being able to reach bare flooring underneath furniture. The sweeping performance is also impressive on carpets as well as bare flooring. The vacuum/mop has a high level debris pickup and the mop will quickly saturate bare flooring.
The mops also use a smart system to clean along the edges of furniture and around walls. The robot can handle the largest obstacles such as food bowls, toys backpacks, and shoes without any problem. However, it could get stuck or become entangled with smaller and flatter objects such as shoelaces, USB cables and pens.
We used this robot to clean and mop a mixture of pile carpet tiles, FLOR carpet and hardwood floors in a large, open house floor plan. With FREO Mind enabled, it vacuumed and mopped a 90m2 space in around 170 minutes which is about the average for Gen 4.

The Scout RX3 impressed us in our test of how well it was able to clean baking powder from baseboards and corners. Its suction of 2,500 Pa was less powerful than other robots, but it moved quickly and was very quiet. It didn't mop and its removable cleaning pad was difficult to attach. It also wasn't able to handle dirt that was dried on.
Its app lacks advanced features such as multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It supports Alexa however its voice commands don't seem to be very precise or responsive. It's also a bit sporadic when it comes back to the charging station after a run. Other robots can follow a wall or trace the previous route however the RX3 is a mess until it quits.
We also had issues with the intelligent features of the device, including its mapping feature and digital stay-out zones. While it did a good job of keeping away from our furniture legs and shoes, it got easily hung up by socks and cables, and couldn't handle the tassels on rugs. We decided not to include the Scout RX3 in our Best Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and a dazzling performance. It's worth considering as an alternative to uprights that are traditionally used.
